The container arrived in Bouar
06/10/2021 - News
The day 6 October the container, which left the AMICI headquarters last June, arrived at the “Saint Michel mission” in Bouar. Inside, the materials needed to continue and support ongoing projects have found space, including two large generators of 470 kg each, destined for both the Saint Michel Care Center and the Notre Dame de Fatima mission in Bouar with the adjoining carpentry shop.
In the big container has found a place both the medical supplies for the Niem hospital and the school equipment for the more than thirty village schools in the savannah.
Over the years, a sort of ritual has been consolidated to allow the arrival of large containers in the mission: the trucks arriving from the port of Douala in Cameroon cannot continue on the road that leads from the city of Bouar to Niem (especially during the rains).
Furthermore, there isn’t suitable means of unloading full containers and then reloading them on a smaller truck suitable for tackling the route… Therefore, all you can do is empty the contents by hand.
Once the material has been divided for the different destinations, it’s then transported on different journeys. A real adventure that makes thecontents of containers precious as a treasure.
Thanks to all those who contributed to the procurement of the materials and, above all, to those who gave their free time in loading the container and preparing it, in this way, for the long trip.
